We are a non-profit organization for players interested in competitive, travel soccer that reside in one of the following towns: Exeter, Stratham, Newfields, East Kingston, Kensington and Brentwood, ages U8 through U19 and a member of US Youth Soccer.
NOTE: If your town does NOT have an established soccer club, we will consider players registering, however this will be only as roster space allows.
FC Exeter has both a Youth Division U8-U15 (through 8th grade only) which fields teams in the Fall and Spring seasons. We also have a High School Division U16-U19 (starting 9th grade) for Spring only. Refer to the US Youth Soccer Age Chart for division level by birth year USYS Birth Chart
The fall season typically starts with a late August preseason jamboree. The NHSL regular season kicks off after Labor Day and runs thru late October/into early November. All age levels participate in a tournament during Columbus Day weekend. The season concludes with end-of-season playoffs for U11-up.
During the fall season, practices are held twice per week, and games are primarily scheduled on Saturdays and occasionally on Sundays or weeknights.
The spring season starts in mid-April and runs through early June with end-of-season playoffs (U11 and up). Spring is a shorter season with no preseason or in-season tournaments.
During the spring season, practices are held once per week.
The Academy Program is the soccer training program for our U8-U10 age groups and includes Academy-style practice — in which all teams practice concurrently in one location with coaching support from our partners at Seacoast United (SUSC). As with all FC Exeter age levels, the fall season features two practices weekly; spring, once weekly.
FC Exeter coaches receive training and age appropriate soccer drills, game play and sportsmanship goals to share with their players. Travel league competitive games are played on the weekends.
To register you need to create an account on our website and complete all the required information and including uploading of documents and waivers.
Evaluations: We hold player evaluations for FALL SEASON team placement in May. We have no evaluations for SPRING SEASON team placement.
Evaluations for fall team placement are held in May. Players are placed on the evaluation attendance list by registering for the fall season. The club sends out several emails in advance of that date and posts this registration link on the website. In order to foster an unbiased assessment of players, the tryouts are evaluated by Seacoast United coaches. These evaluations are used in combination with previous seasonal feedback from FC Exeter coaches. Our goal is to create teams based on similar balanced ability and skill while creating an opportunity for growth and competitive challenge.
FC Exeter is committed to placing each player in the environment that best supports their development, growth and love of the game. Age levels align with U.S. Youth Soccer's standardized player classification by birth year.
Our teams are structured across two competitive levels — Premier and Championship — each offering an experience tailored to where players are in their development journey.
Premier teams are composed of players who have demonstrated technical skills and a level of tactical understanding to compete against the highest levels of league competition, facing similarly experienced players from other town teams. Like every player in our club, premier players' development is always top of mind, and this level allows them to continue to improve and refine their abilities.
Championship teams provide players with a competitive and supportive environment to develop key aspects of their game. This level focuses on continued growth in technical skills, game awareness and team play. It’s designed to give players the right balance of challenge and opportunity so they can build confidence, improve steadily, and prepare for potential advancement. Like Premier, Championship teams are placed in competition against similarly experienced clubs from other towns within our league.
Our goal is to ensure that each player is placed in the setting that will allows them to thrive, where they are both challenged and set up for success. Player movement between levels is always possible and encouraged as development progresses.
FC Exeter forms rosters by birth year to align with the U.S. Youth Soccer standardized player classification. There are occasions when players are asked to play above their birth year for roster flexibility and viability.
As for game opportunities during a season, FCX intentionally keeps team rosters lean to maximize playing time. Consequently, there will be times when a team will need to supplement its game-day roster. Our league allows teams to implement “club passes” of between 3 and 5 guest players per game, depending on the age level. Guest players can only “play up” in division or age, not down.
When coaches are in need of supplemental players, they will:
o Reach out to an FC Exeter coach in a lower division in that age level to see who might be available and able to play.
o If there is not a lower division in that age level, the coach will contact an FC Exeter coach at the age level below.
Fall season teams practice twice weekly; spring season teams practice once weekly. The club works with team coaches to determine a practice schedule on sanctioned fields, and communicates this to families a few weeks prior to season start.
We utilize local fields for practices and games which may include Exeter Recreation, Brentwood Recreation, Stratham Parks & Recreation, SAU-16 school fields, Phillips Exeter Academy and Seacoast United, among others. These are scheduled dependent upon seasonal needs and availability.
FC Exeter is a competitive travel soccer club with most game locations within 60 minutes of Exeter. Our club competes in the New Hampshire Soccer League (NSHL)
The game schedule is determined and posted on the NHSL website approximately two weeks prior to the season's start. Similarly, tournament schedules are determined by the host club and are typically released approximately one week prior to the tournament.
Uniform kits are a separate cost from registration and must be ordered in advance of the season. Player uniform numbers will be assigned after team roster formation. Uniform kits (and replacement pieces) can be ordered from the WeGotSoccer.com Link for Uniforms Here
New uniforms kits are selected on a 2 year cycle (current uniforms are to be used from fall 2023- spring 2025). New uniforms will be introduced for fall 2025.
FC Exeter and our the New Hampshire Soccer League follow the US Youth Soccer Birth-year Guidelines, and teams are fielded by birth year.
All of our Coaches are volunteers. As mandated by US Club Soccer, all are certified, including Background Check, US Club, and concussion protocol. For more information see the FAQ section For Coaches.
No, FC Exeter only fields teams for the outdoor fall and spring seasons. Off-season indoor or summer team play is independent of our club and is typically run by parents or coaches within our community.
